Aromatic Profile | Deep & Complex

Zhengyan Rougui embodies the quintessential cinnamon fragrance that defines this tea variety, bold and penetrating yet elegantly balanced. This dominant note is complemented by an intricate fusion of floral aromas, layered with subtle fruitiness, delicate milky sweetness, woody depth, and caramelized undertones. The result is an aroma that is both rich and multi-dimensional, lingering in the air and in the cup.

Full-Bodied, Sweet, and Long-Lasting Flavor

The liquor is thick, smooth, and structured, delivering a pronounced rock rhyme (yan yun)—a signature minerality unique to Wuyi’s core tea-growing region. Upon swallowing, an immediate returning sweetness (hui gan) spreads from the tip of the tongue to the throat, leaving behind a long-lasting, refreshing sweetness that persists well after drinking. This persistent aftertaste, combined with the tea’s rich texture, makes every sip deeply satisfying.

Brewing Method

  • Pouring Technique: Use a high pour and low dribble for the first few infusions to enhance aroma extraction.
  • Steeping Time: Ensure quick, controlled infusions and drain the tea completely before the next brew.
  • Later Infusions: After the seventh infusion, allow the tea to sit slightly longer to bring out its deeper notes.

Visual & Textural Profile

  • Dry Leaves: Tightly twisted, robust, and well-structured; dark, glossy, and uniform in appearance.
  • Tea Liquor: Bright golden-orange, luminous and clear.
  • Aroma: A blend of cinnamon spice, honeyed sweetness, floral undertones, and woody depth, offering a sophisticated and long-lasting fragrance.
  • Wet Leaves: Fresh and uniform, displaying a pale green base with distinctive red edges, exuding a deep and lingering aroma.

Experience the refined essence of Zhengyan Rougui, a true expression of Wuyi’s legendary terroir, where strength, sweetness, and depth come together in perfect harmony.
