Aromatic Profile | Bold & Multi-Layered

Zhengyan Rougui is distinguished by its strong and sharp cinnamon aroma, a signature characteristic of this prestigious rock tea. The scent is bold yet balanced, complemented by rich honeyed sweetness and floral-fruity undertones. These layers of fragrance evolve with each infusion, creating a deep and sophisticated aromatic experience that lingers in the cup and in the air.

Smooth, Spicy & Long-Lasting Sweetness

The tea liquor is thick, smooth, and full-bodied, with a distinctive rock rhyme (yan yun)—the mineral essence unique to Wuyi’s core tea-growing region. The sharp, green cinnamon spice spreads through the palate, delivering a refreshing and slightly fiery sensation, followed by an intense returning sweetness (hui gan). The tea’s texture is enriched with a gelatinous mouthfeel, allowing the fruit notes to linger with power and depth. As the tea evolves, floral and woody undertones emerge, further enhancing the complexity and smoothness of each sip.

This tea is also highly durable, maintaining its depth and fragrance across multiple infusions, making it an excellent choice for long tea sessions.

Brewing Method

  • Pouring Technique: Use a high pour and low dribble for the first few infusions to unlock the tea’s full aromatic potential.
  • Steeping Time: Keep infusions short and precise; fully drain the tea before the next brew.
  • Later Infusions: After the seventh infusion, slightly extend steeping time to reveal deeper layers of aroma and flavor.

Visual & Textural Profile

  • Dry Leaves: Tightly curled, dark, and glossy, exuding a rich, layered fragrance.
  • Tea Liquor: Bright golden-orange, vibrant and crystal-clear.
  • Aroma: A refined fusion of cinnamon spice, honey sweetness, floral and fruity undertones, with a touch of woody depth.
  • Wet Leaves: Soft, elastic, and vibrant, with a green base and subtle red edges, retaining a long-lasting and evolving fragrance.

Experience the depth and strength of Zhengyan Rougui, where intensity meets refinement in every sip, bringing out the very best of Wuyi’s legendary terroir.
